Android calendar sync not working in Notify app?

This page explains why some calendar events do not sync to the Notify reminders list or to your Xiaomi smartwatch, and how to fix the most common setup problems on Android.

In most cases the app can only read calendars that are exposed by the standard Android calendar provider. If an event exists only inside a private calendar app database, Android does not share it with other apps, so Notify cannot import or sync it.

Why calendar sync may fail

1) The calendar is private to the app
Some calendar apps store events only inside their own private storage. In that case the events are visible inside that app, but they are not available through Android system calendar access, so Notify cannot read them.

2) The calendar is not synced with Android system calendars
Notify can access only calendars that are added to the phone and exposed through Android calendar sync. Google Calendar accounts, Samsung Calendar accounts, Exchange calendars, and visible device calendars usually work if they are properly enabled on the phone.

3) Calendar permission is missing
If Android calendar permission is denied, Notify cannot read events and cannot keep the reminders list updated.

4) The calendar is hidden or excluded
A calendar account can be disabled in the phone calendar app, or excluded inside Notify calendar sync settings.

How to make your calendar sync correctly

Step 1) Save events into a calendar that Android shares system-wide
Create the event in a calendar account that is visible to Android, such as Google Calendar, Samsung Calendar, Microsoft Exchange, or another phone calendar account that appears in the Android calendar list.

Step 2) Check that the calendar account is enabled on your phone
Open your phone calendar app and make sure the target calendar is visible and synchronized. If the event does not appear in the phone system calendar view, Notify will not be able to access it either.

Step 3) Grant calendar permission to Notify
Go to Android Settings > Apps > Notify > Permissions and allow Calendar access.

Step 4) Enable calendar sync in Notify
Open Notify > Reminders > More options > Android calendar sync and turn it on.

Step 5) Review excluded calendars
In the same Notify screen, tap the calendar selection button and make sure the calendar that contains your events is not excluded.

Step 6) Refresh sync after changing calendar settings
After enabling the correct calendar account or moving an event to a shared calendar, reopen the reminders screen and trigger a new sync.

Which calendars usually work best?

The most reliable setup is using a calendar account that is synchronized at Android system level, for example:

- Google Calendar synced to the phone
- Samsung Calendar with visible synced account
- Exchange / Outlook work account synced on Android
- Device calendars exposed through Android system calendar provider

Which calendars may not work?

Sync may fail if the event is stored only inside:

- A private calendar database used by a third-party app
- A notes app with built-in event view but no Android calendar provider integration
- A hidden calendar account disabled in Android calendar visibility settings

Best solution if local events do not sync

If a local-only event is not detected, move or copy that event into a calendar account that is synchronized with Android system calendars, such as Google Calendar. Once the event becomes visible to Android calendar apps, Notify can usually import it and sync it to the app reminders list and to the watch.
